Things to Do
Although Villacana offers lots of activities or just the opportunity
to relax by the pool or on the beach, there are lots of other things to
do in the area.
The children's play park (see right) will keep the younger
family members entertained while you relax outdoors in the whirlpool or, if you
feel more energetic, you could try playing tennis.
The indoor leisure centre includes a second swimming
pool, sauna, Turkish bath, squash courts and gymnasium. (Don't forget
there are more than a dozen championship golf courses in the area!)
If you decide to go exploring the local area you will not be disappointed. The medieval walls, Arab baths and palaces are well worth a visit in the city of Ronda, which hangs over a steep gorge and is one of the oldest cities in Spain.
The hillside villages of Mijas and Casares are also beautiful and allow you to get closer to the Sierra Nevada mountains.
The rugged coastline, coves and wide beaches are excellent for relaxing beside before you visit the sophisticated resort of Marbella where clubs, a casino, bars & boutiques can be found. Narrow streets and remains of the old castle may still be found in this busy, modern city. Puerto Banus, the millionaires' marina, is also in the area and is excellent for colourful photographs.
Fuengirola offers great beaches, a water park, zoo, shops, restaurants,
bars and night clubs. Mijas is a small traditional Andalucian town high
in the mountains above Fuengirola.
Gibraltar, Seville and Granada are all within day trip range.
Malaga is well worth a visit, particularly the old town, cathedral,
Moorish defences and the Picasso Museum.

The bar and the El Rincón de Villacana restaurant (see

bars, or try one of the seafood restaurants on the seafront at
Fuengirola.
Shopping
Villacana has its own shop located
next door to the Princess apartments.
If you have a car there are several supermarkets
nearby.
If you are arriving late it is worth ordering a welcome pack from the
resort, this will ensure that you have the basics including bread, milk,
butter and eggs.
Marbella offers a range of shops and department stores or try the
shopping centre at Puerto Banûs.
El Corte Inglis now has a new department store at
Fuengirola.
